What We Do
Our Services
Rendering Stages
Floor protection and scaffolding.
With any wet trade it is important to keep work areas tidy and protect floors, roofs, doors, windows and all other areas of your home. To keep driveways and paths clean, we start by laying out a protective floor covering. Once this is down, the scaffolding can be erected.
Inspection and prep work
Once the scaffolding is up, we will then do an in depth inspection of the property. This is to make sure everything is as it should be and that we can ensure we don’t encounter any unforeseen problems, We then start by taking down all downpipes/lights/hanging baskets and begin protecting your roof along with any windows, doors and any other areas that might be affected.
Beading Up
This is a rendering term used for fixing plastic trims called beads to all external angles, wall edges and low levels including a drip bead which diverts water. This also gives us a straight, crisp edge to work to. Some walls may need a coat of primer. We call this render grip and has a distinctive red colour, this is a polymer based primer that will allow new render to bond to the existing surface.
Basecoat
This is the first coat of render and will be hand applied or sprayed using our pump. Once this is on the wall, we start using tools called ‘Edges’ to rule this off flat. Once we are sure that the render is flat, we then embed a fibreglass reinforced mesh – this is what prevents the render from shrinking and cracking and gives the render strength during hot and cold weather. After this we then apply another thin coat of render over the mesh to close it up and close the surface of the render using a float.
Priming
Once the render has had time to dry, we then apply a coloured primer. This is an important stage as this will create a bond between the layers of render and silicone render.
Application of Silicone Render
This process can be hand applied or sprayed. Both provide very similar in textures. This is the final stage of the rendering process when we apply your bespoke colour and is weather dependent, especially during the winter months.
Clean Down, Mastic and Handover
The final stage is what we call a clean down. This is where all protective tape, plastic and window protection is removed. We then wipe down all plastic soffits/windows and sills. All downpipes are reattached along with any other items were removed at the start of the project. All waste is then bagged up, floor protection is swept and removed. We then have a skilled mastic specialist seal all doors/windows and sills to ensure no water can penetrate the new render. Once this is completed and the customer is happy we then arrange for the scaffolding to be taken down. On a final visit the floor will be swept one more time, and with the customers permission a few photos will be taken for our company portfolio.
